How long does an electric bike take to charge?
Start with the charging time published for your exact bike and its supplied charger. TXED lists approximately 5–6 hours for Trail and 6–8 hours for Maverick. Those figures are a useful planning window for a full charge; a shorter top-up starts from a different battery level and can take less time.
| Model | Nominal battery energy | Published charging time |
|---|---|---|
| Trail | 468Wh (36V 13Ah) | 5–6 hours |
| Maverick | 720Wh (48V 15Ah) | 6–8 hours |
These are manufacturer parameters for the model, rather than timings from a new TXED ride or charging test.
Plan from the time you need to leave
Look at the next journey, your current battery indication and the time you will be at home. Choose a charging window when you are awake and present. If your usual return home is late, a supervised session earlier in the day may fit your routine better than an overnight charge.
Keep the plan flexible enough to deal with a journey that used more assistance, a missed charging opportunity or an unexpected detour. A session that only partly replenishes the battery should be treated as a top-up, rather than assumed to deliver the bike's advertised maximum range.
Why two charging sessions differ
The starting charge is the first difference to record. A lightly used battery and one used for a longer ride are asking the charger to replace different amounts of energy. Battery capacity and the approved charger also form a pair: comparing only the hours printed for two different bikes leaves out that context.
Use the battery and charger indicators as described in their own instructions. Their colours and completion signals vary between products. A simple percentage-to-minutes conversion can give a false sense of precision, so use the model's full-charge window and your ordinary sessions as planning information.
Keep a short record if behaviour changes
| Record | Useful detail |
|---|---|
| Before charging | Model, charger label and starting battery indication |
| Session | Start time, finish time and indicator behaviour |
| Change | Whether the pattern is new and whether the equipment shows damage or unusual heat |
A large, unexplained change deserves investigation. Repeatedly restarting the charger or fitting a higher-output alternative can introduce another problem. Stop using damaged equipment or a battery showing abnormal heat, swelling, smell or smoke, and follow the official battery safety advice.
For an ordinary timing question, send TXED Support the model and session details. The record gives the team something specific to assess while keeping the original charger and battery combination clear.
