Choosing Two Electric Bikes for Two Riders
Choose each rider’s bicycle first, then compare the price of buying the pair. Two people can share a route and still need different riding positions, bicycle weights or equipment. A same-model package is useful when both riders want that configuration; a mixed pair can be the better use of the budget when their needs differ.
Write two short rider briefs
For each person, record the usual route, longest planned return trip, hills, riding confidence and luggage. Add the practical details: who moves the bike through the doorway, whether either rider faces stairs, and whether the bicycles travel by car. Separate answers reveal differences that a shared budget alone can conceal.
Then assess fit individually. Each rider needs a position that allows them to operate the controls and start and stop confidently. A model chosen for the taller or more experienced person should still earn its place for the other rider.
Where the two TXED configurations differ
The Trail has 27.5 × 2.3-inch tyres, front suspension, mechanical disc brakes and a published weight of 24kg. Its nominal battery energy is 468Wh. The Maverick uses 20 × 4-inch tyres and hydraulic disc brakes, with a 720Wh nominal battery and an approximate complete-bike weight of 40.4kg. Both are non-folding, steel-framed 250W models.
For a household that regularly moves both bikes by hand, that weight difference deserves attention before the larger battery. If one rider wants the Maverick’s fat-tyre configuration and the other prefers the Trail’s conventional wheel format, compare a mixed pair alongside the packages. Battery energy is a specification, rather than a guarantee that both riders will cover the same distance on one charge.
Compare the total for two complete bikes

Each package contains two complete bicycles with the corresponding single-bike equipment for each. Budget for any separately selected locks, helmets or luggage after choosing the bikes. The package total is the purchase price for the pair.
Plan one home for two bicycles
Measure how each bike reaches storage and where both will stand while leaving the exit usable. Picture the weekday routine as well as a weekend ride: can the first person take their bike out without moving the other one? Decide where each removable battery and its original charger will be used, following the supplied instructions.
For car trips, the carrier must accommodate each individual bike’s weight and dimensions as well as the combined load. Two spaces on a rack do not establish enough capacity for two e-bikes. Make that comparison before adding a package to the travel plan.
Make the first shared ride easy to adjust
Pick a short route with a simple return, and agree on a pace that works for both people. Each rider can choose their own assistance level. Use the outing to understand the bikes and each other’s preferred pace before planning a longer journey.
A long saddle alone does not approve carrying a passenger; choose two bicycles for two independent riders.
