Electric bike storage at home: plan the whole route
Start at the entrance, then follow every door, turn, step and lift to the place where the bike will stand. That route matters as much as the final floor space. A bicycle can be shorter than a shed yet still be awkward to manoeuvre through its entrance or around stored equipment.
Record the bicycle you will actually move
Use the whole bicycle's length, width, height and weight in its storage configuration. Include fitted accessories and space for your hands when manoeuvring it. Handlebar length alone may leave out another protruding part, and wheel diameter tells you little about the complete footprint.

The centimetre figures are conversions of the published dimensions. Record the complete width and other relevant dimensions separately before deciding how a bike will pass through your route.

Print the entrance-to-storage checklist
Copy the table or print this page and take it along the route. Mark unknown dimensions as unknown. A positive difference between the storage length and the bicycle length is only one observation; it leaves turning and access unresolved.
Choose the arrangement around everyday use
Floor storage avoids raising the complete bike into a hanging position. Allow access to a lock and enough space to remove the bicycle without repeatedly shifting everything else in the room.
A shed or garage offers a distinct storage area, but its doorway, security, damp exposure and normal use still shape the arrangement. A garden path or threshold may be the narrowest part of the journey.
A wall rack or hoist needs a suitable structure, approved fixings and a rating appropriate to the actual bicycle. Establish how you will load and unload it before ordering. A conventional bike hook is not a complete plan for a heavy e-bike.
A flat with stairs calls for a moving plan you can sustain. Removing a battery can help separate the charging task from parking, while the remaining bicycle still needs to be moved and stored. Discuss access rules with the building manager where relevant.
Keep storage and escape routes compatible
The Department for Transport advises keeping e-cycles and charging equipment away from escape routes and communal areas in multi-occupied buildings. A location that obstructs the only way out needs a different plan, even when its dimensions accommodate the bicycle.
